Exciting News for 2010

Our viewers and listeners (all five of you) will , no doubt, be wondering what happened to the ageing 'Ant' and 'Dec' of Gracemount! Well, sorry, all we can be sure of is that we're two years older (but not necessarily wiser)! Anyway, we very much appreciate that you've stuck with us despite our mini-version of the "crunch" As you might guess, the net effect has been to put all our noble and grand ideas in the freezer for an extended period. However, the good news is that we're, at last, being seen to move some of our stuff back into comfortable room temperature. Unfortunately, for proprietory reasons, we definitely have to keep developments under wraps for just a few weeks longer. Terms and conditions have to be negotiated with our mentors and agreed to. Obviously, details of costing, timelines and job allocations also have to be worked out. Once we have all the detailed info ourselves, we'll make sure you'll be the very first to get the word. The main gist of it is that we, 'GD', hope to be involved in all the fun and excitement of the Festival through a truly brilliant project. It's being facilitated, we believe, by a RSL broadcasting outlet, which you already know as Festival Radio. The 'tekkies' among you will, I hope, note that Angus has done a great job (and thanks!) in getting us properly 'blogged' This, of course, means that you can get in on the act much more directly from this day on.
Please keep those comments coming - polite ones are preferred but not obligatory!
One last request is that each one of us 'recruit' a friend to join the gang. The reason for our request is that to get our project up and running successfully we need twelve literally outgoing people in the team .
(We could go up as high as sixteen at a push.) We can offer legit expenses but, sorry, no wage.
We believe the ideal candidates might well be 'media-Muppets' , gagging for Gaga and wild as wombats. They might also be Hendrixes at the Bendix, Parises at the Hilton and Articulate Monkeys. Okay, they could also just be uncool wage-slaves bored with office life! Please wait till your between 16 and 96 before applying!

Thanks!

THINKING OF VOLUNTEERING?

There a whole lot of good reasons for volunteering. It is more than just 'helping out' on the odd occasion, though there is nothing wrong with that at all. We will help people out, naturally, if and when we are able to do so. However, perhaps, you might be looking for a more focused way of assisting people. This is where you are ought to speak to an experienced advisor.

The folks at Volunteer Edinburgh will tell you that volunteering. gone about properly, can be an immensely rewarding experience. It gives rewards in so many ways that simply can't be measured in monetary terms. Volunteering can, for example, help you gain self-confidence, help you recover from a bout of clinical depression, improve your 'people skills' and your mental and physical well-being and gain you real and life-long friends.

Volunteer Edinburgh can be contacted in South Edinburgh by phoning 0131 664 8511 Don't waste a minute. Get talking to him right now!

UPDATE:

Update 21 August 2008 We aim to have a film/video project up and running by January 2009. We need people to volunteer to take part. No previous experience, only enthusiasm, is required. If you're a bit stuck for something to do right now or want a break from the 'usual routine', then why not join us in putting on a show for others to enjoy watching?

As soon as we get the funding for the project we'll give you a call to let you know when the film/vidoe shooting is to begin. Phone Kris on 07916129975 and let him know your name and how you feel you could help the project get up and running.

Katie's Wood

Katie takes her dog, there sometimes to give it exercise. Other times she goes to the shops on messages for her mum .

But she tells me that she much prefers the quiet of the woods, the gentle rushing of water in the Stenhouse burn and the peace of the early morning in summer, spring and autumn. She says that she likes to watch the way the trees change colour and drop their leaves in November. And, of course, she loves to see most of the trees and bushes 'put on their new clothes' in the Spring. She admits that she gets a bit annoyed with people who carelessly drop their litter, spoiling the look of the place for others. She asks why people can't learn to be more like trees! ,

"Well, trees are tall, strong, very beautiful and they don't make a mess or fight each other all the time, do they, grandad? "

Quite right, Katie!

Film on Gracemount

WITH YOUR HELP...!

We are looking to produce a ten-minute film on the Gracemount area. We're waiting to receive any material relating to this locality, which might be used.

You may remember that some of us were involved in the 'Serve Radio' RSL Project in Gilmerton in 2004. We're hoping that people will dig deep into their memories and archives for stuff on the area. We also hope to produce a small booklet in connection with the subject matter of the film.

Anything we use will be credited. Anything we don't will obviously be returned to sender with thanks.

The address for submission is : Gracemount Digital, c/o KM Promotions, Mailboxes Etc, 44-46, Morningside Road, Edinburgh, EH10 4BF
